The ingredients needed to make Beef keema:

  2. Make ready , chopped

  13. Prepare 2 tbsp natural yogurt
  14. Get 200 g frozen peas or cooked fresh peas
  15. Take 1 small bunch coriander, chopped
  16. Prepare 500 g new potatoes

Beef keema is one of my favorite South Asian dishes. I normally prepare it with a tomato and onion base (see Kulsoom's recipe here). So was intrigued when I found a recipe in the Salt'n Pepper Village cookbook that completely omitted tomatoes. A Spicy One Pot Minced Beef Keema, which can be made in the slow cooker or oven baked if you prefer.

Instructions to make Beef keema:
  1. Chop the onion, garlic, ginger and chillies together in a food processor. Heat the oil in a large frying pan and fry the mixture until it becomes very fragrant. Add the mince and fry until it begins to brown, stirring to break up any lumps. - Add the spices and fry for 1 min. Add the tomatoes and bring to a simmer, cook for 1 min, then stir in the yogurt, some salt and a good grind of black pepper. Add a splash of water if you need to, then cook the mixture for 30 mins. Add peas and cook for 5mins
  2. Then stir in the coriander. Serve with Indian breads or poppadums, chutney and some more yogurt.
